Changing the Narrative Part IV

In January 2022, the Justice for Survivors Act (AB 124 Kamlager) expanded California’s criminal vacatur law to include victims and survivors of interpersonal and sexual violence. This change in the law means that victims and survivors of these crimes who were charged with non-violent crimes related to their victimization now have the opportunity to clear their criminal records. This training will educate legal and social services organizations serving victims of interpersonal and sexual violence about this new change in the law and how you can use this new law to help survivors clear their records and get a fresh start. During this training, we will share who qualifies for this relief, what is required to petition for relief and resources for attorneys working on vacatur cases. This training is intended for anyone interested in learning more about criminal vacatur and the expansion of California’s law resulting from AB 124.
