The Intersection Between Trauma and Addiction for Human Trafficking Survivors

In this presentation, we focus on the intersection between trauma and addiction with an emphasis on its impact on survivors of human trafficking. We discuss addiction issues from a perspective of a risk factor as well as a consequence of a traumatic experience. Additionally, we examine how addiction issues could interfere and impede survivors' recovery process. Finally, we consider how stigma and bias associated with addiction issues impact the delivery of services and survivors' overall well-being.
